The Great Dorset Steam Fair’s own radio station – Steam Fair FM on 87.9FM – will be back on air during the 2017 show, and celebrating its 15th year of broadcasting with the show. For the third consecutive year, the National Traction Engine Trust has joined forces with the show and Event Radio Associates who provide the broadcast.
Following a successful change to the show dates in 2016, Great Dorset Steam Fair has confirmed that the 2017 show will run from Thursday 24th August to Bank Holiday Monday 29th August. Following a review of last year’s procedures, the pre-show set up period will be extended by one day, with exhibitors, traders and pre-paid campers now able to gain access from 8.00am on Sunday 20th. In response to this, Steam Fair FM will go on air (and online) at midnight on Saturday 19th, and broadcast 24/7 until Tuesday 29th – 10 days of broadcasting.
Commenting on the decision, Patrick Heeley of Event Radio Associates said “The team is really looking forward to our 15th year with the show. The ongoing partnership with the show and NTET will ensure that we have access to the very best show and exhibit news, interviews, reviews and all the information about what’s happening. Up to the minute traffic news and weather reports will continue to be a priority, and we’ll be welcoming listener dedications, and playing the greatest Vintage Hits all day and night!
