The collection of engines was outstanding and a lot of hard work had gone into getting them all there, I particularly liked the scrap yard. Who would have thought in 1968 when it all started that you would have over 500 engines from all over the world at an event in Dorset. Anyway thank you for all your hard work. “I thought I would drop you a few lines to congratulate you all on what was a magnificent steam fair. I had been looking forward to the 50th rally for many years and you did not disappoint… 500 engines blimey! I have never seen so many steam engines in one location, it was hard to believe and a spectacle to behold that I will never forget. Which brings me onto the big arena what sight that was, I was stood by the fence watching the engines doing their thing and thought I had been stood there around 30 minutes- I had actually been stood there for 2 hours! I must have been totally transfixed by the action in the arena. I could waffle on for pages but it would mean simply this: the 500 at 50 was fantastic and flawless! See you next year!”
