Marquees
At the Great Dorset Steam Fair there are many marquees that are interesting in their
own right and of course they make sure that there is still plenty to do in the dry
even if there is the odd shower!
See the two large Craft Marquees where you can stroll up and down the isles and
view an eclectic of traditional rural country crafts, including stained glass, dried
flower arranging, the making of walking sticks, leather products (handbags and belts
etc.), pottery and oil paintings.
The Food Hall is home to a delicious selection of cheeses, home made pickles, speciality
sausages and pies plus cakes, pastries and bread. Make a date for a fantastic traditional
cream tea yummy!
Other marquees include a Model Marquee that has something for everyone, a Motorcycle
Marquee, a Cycle Marquee and the National Traction Engine Trust Marquee.
The Granfers Day Marquee holds a selection of working farming
bygones, an intriguing trip down memory lane.
The Dairy Collection Marquee holds many artefacts used in days gone by for the production
of dairy produce. There is also a Forest and Farm Marquee and a Church Marquee.
Specialist Restoration Services Marquee
Over the years we have listened to suggestions made by some specialist
companies to create an area away from the standard trade aisles during the show.
In answer to their requests, 2007 saw the launch of the Specialist Restoration Services
Marquee. The marquee highlights some of the specialist skills, tools and services
essential to the varied aspects of restoration and engineering.
The Marquee, sponsored by Vintage Spirit magazine will also include
a variety of exhibits both inside and near the entrance.
